RDA offers a range of programmes and qualifications that celebrate and reward individual achievement, the education programme provides a platform for learning in an environment that is fun and engaging. Many of the activities offered in riding sessions develop skills in literacy and numeracy and are valued by schools and colleges as they complement and support the wider curriculum.
The RDA proficiency tests give a structured path to teach skills such as riding, horse care, stable management and welfare, the grade tests make it possible to measure and follow students progress and development.
ASDAN is an Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network, it is a charitable organisation offering a range of qualifications, awards and publications. There are over 4000 centres in the UK registered to run ASDAN programmes and RDA is one of these. Each ASDAN project is tailor made for the individual participant, and can include all aspects of horse and pony care.
The Tweeddale Rideability Group ran its first ASDAN programme from 2012 to 2013, and our first ASDAN certificate was awarded in December 2013.
