No RDA group can function without numerous helpers. Some riders may require up to three helpers: one to take control of the horse, and two walkers who have a supportive role, and walk on either side of the rider and horse.
It is not necessary to have a "horsey" background (although it is useful), but a sense of humour is absolutely essential!!! The instructor is available to give advice to new helpers, and volunteers are encouraged to attend training days to
give them an understanding of the importance of their role, and of the mental and physical benefits of riding for our riders.
Apart from the satisfaction of seeing the riders` progress, volunteers enjoy fresh air and exercise. A regular commitment of one or more hours a week during school term time is all that is asked.
